History & mission
Nu Phi Fraternity was founded at Demopolis High School in Demopolis Alabama, January 28, 2008, by one Africa-American. Dion Pritchett Sr. The Founder, Most Honorable Dion Pritchett Sr, wanted to organize a High School fraternity that would truly exemplify the ideals of brotherhood, commitment, and service.
The Founder deeply wanted to create an organization that viewed itself as “a part of” the general community rather than “apart from” the general community. He believed that each member should have something positive to do, rather than be in the streets. He believed in helping the youth. He based the group of service, brotherhood, and commitment. He desired for his fraternity to exist as part of an even greater brotherhood which would be devoted to the “community.”
The Founder crossed thirty members into Nu Phi. The members deliver services to the general community. They participate in cleaning up the community, members participated in multiple shows such as talent, step shows and COTR parade. They gain skills to be utilized exclusively for themselves and their immediate families, they held a deep conviction that they should return their newly acquired skills to the communities from which they had come. This deep conviction was mirrored in the Fraternity’s motto, “Commitment for Service, Service for Strength”.
Today, Nu Phi has blossomed into a great high school organization of leaders. Members of the Fraternity have been instrumental in the establishment of the Nu Phi Foundation. Zeta Nu Sorority, founded in 2017 with the assistance of Nu Phi, is the sister organization of the Fraternity.
